Personality
Gaston is a typical collie, he is full of energy! He is a lovely boy but he does need some work so would really benefit from someone who knows the breed or has experience with dogs who like to try to push their boundaries. He would benefit from living with another dog who will put him in his place. He could also live as the only dog quite happily. Gaston is suitable to live with older children. He is currently in foster with cats and has not showed any interest in them. Gaston is a very sweet, loving boy who always wants a fuss, love and attention. Gaston has huge potential and once in the right home he will no doubt thrive and be a fabulous dog. He loves his treats and is happy to please so will be a fast learner.
Health & Behaviour
Gaston has no known health issues. Gaston is currently in foster with other dogs and although he gets along with them really well, he can be selective and dominant. Food guarding can be an issue with Gaston, he will snap at another dog if they come too close and he also grumbles at himself sometimes when eating! This needs to be worked on during meal times. He will need to be socialised into adulthood to stop any negative behaviour around other dogs. He can bark at people initially but once introduced he will want to give you face licks! Gaston will also need further guidance with his toilet training. He is incredibly bright and eager to please, thus highly trainable.
Perfect Match?
You will need to have the time and patience with Gaston’s ongoing training. He is a young boy with lots to learn. You will need to understand Gaston has not had the most consistent of beginnings, especially where training is concerned. Being moved into rescue at such a young age can be rather unsettling so you must be prepared to guide him in the right direction while being attentive to the fact he will need time to decompress. If you have experience with Border Collies you are what Gaston is looking for. He will equally thrive with someone who knows how to set boundaries and balance this with plenty of mental stimulation in the form of training and playtime. Your reward will be loyalty and an abundance of love.
