Erica’s early life is largely unknown. She was picked up as a stray — possibly feral — and came into care after suffering cluster seizures. At one stage, she was facing euthanasia. Thankfully, we were able to investigate further and believe the seizures were infection-related. Once treated and started on medication, she stabilised beautifully.
She spent months in a cattery and then time at the vets recovering. By the time she reached foster, she was understandably shut down. Even someone walking towards her would make her tremble and retreat.
Given time and a calm environment, she has completely changed.
Erica is now a soft, affectionate, deeply gentle girl. She rubs around legs, leans into hands for fuss, purrs loudly, and will happily be picked up and held for long stretches. She seeks out contact. She trusts. It’s a quiet, steady kind of love — not demanding, just grateful and present.
She’s currently weaning off her medication under veterinary guidance and doing very well. We’re optimistic that she may not need long-term medication at all.
Erica is comfortable with people, other cats, and dogs. She’s one of those naturally easy-going souls who settles in without drama. We think she would be fine in a home with kind, sensible children.
You would never guess how uncertain her start was. She just wants a family and a calm place to belong.
If you’re looking for a gentle, affectionate companion with a quietly resilient spirit, Erica might be your girl.
P.s. images include plenty of her getting cuddles, even from a cat she is in foster with, who she could easily be adopted with if someone were looking for a pair (she’s the little spoon)
