Personality
Archie is a handsome 2-year-old Labrador with a huge personality, a love of life, and so much potential just waiting to be unlocked.
Sadly, Archie came into our care after an incident in his previous home led to the heartbreaking decision to have him euthanised. Thankfully, he was given a second chance, and since arriving with us he has done nothing but prove how much he deserves it. We are happy to discuss the circumstances surrounding his surrender with genuinely interested applicants.
Since joining us, Archie has become a firm favourite with our volunteers. He’s affectionate, friendly, and loves meeting people. Like many young Labradors, he approaches life with endless enthusiasm! He thrives when given clear boundaries, structure and consistency, and he’s looking for someone who will continue his training and help him become the very best version of himself.
One thing we’ve been particularly impressed by is how well Archie behaves out and about. Our volunteers have taken him on trips to cafés, pet shops and other public places, where he has been an absolute superstar. He happily accepts attention from strangers, settles well, and even when reactive dogs or cats have passed by, he’s remained calm and simply carried on with his walk.
One of our volunteers summed Archie up perfectly:
“I’ve been walking Archie since the day he came in to us, and I can honestly say he’s never put a foot wrong with me. He can be super excited when he first comes out of the kennels, bouncing around like Tigger and mouthing the lead for the first minute, but if corrected he listens and settles straight away.
He’s a typical Labrador—completely food mad (which is brilliant for training!), incredibly affectionate and a real lovable goofball. He loves his walks and if there’s a puddle, stream or any body of water nearby, he’s straight in! His dream day would definitely involve a trip to the beach.
He’s quite strong on the lead at times and will benefit from some continued lead training, but he already knows how to sit, give a paw and has a lovely recall on a long line. He’s happy to play with other dogs but is equally content to ignore them and carry on walking when asked. I’ve taken him to cafés and pet shops, where he’s behaved brilliantly and enjoyed plenty of fuss from everyone he meets.
He would make someone an incredibly fun, loyal and loving companion. Please give him the chance he deserves.”
🐶 An active family who can provide plenty of exercise, enrichment and adventure.
🏡 An adult-only home.
🐕 A home with another friendly dog could be considered, subject to successful introductions.
🎾 Someone who’ll happily throw a ball… over and over again!
🦴 Plenty of tasty treats to reward his training (he is a Labrador after all!).
Archie isn’t looking for perfection—he’s looking for someone willing to invest in him. In return, you’ll gain an affectionate, fun-loving best friend who will make you laugh every single day.
Could you be the person to give Archie the second chance he’s been waiting for? ❤️
