🖤 Meet Groot 🖤

Groot has been through more than most dogs ever should. He was signed over to us by his previous owner when he became seriously unwell, suffering from pleural effusion of unknown origin. He underwent extensive treatment, including scans and a chest drain, and we’re so happy to say he is now fully healthy with no lasting effects and ready to find the loving home he truly deserves.

Groot is looking for an adult-only, pet-free home where he can finally settle and enjoy life. While he can be comfortable passing other dogs out on walks, he can be hit and miss when it comes to interacting with them, so we feel he’d be happiest as the only pet.

He has completely stolen the hearts of our volunteers. In fact, two of them have been taking him home every weekend to give him a break from kennel life. He’s absolutely thrived in a home environment and, although they adore having him, sadly it’s not something they can offer him permanently.

Coming back into kennels after his weekends away is becoming harder for Groot. He’s shown us just how much he loves home comforts, and now he’s ready for a place to truly call his own, whether that’s a long-term foster home or, even better, a forever family.

Groot is an incredibly affectionate boy who loves nothing more than cuddles with his favourite people. He also loves a game of fetch, adores his toys, and is muzzle trained, making him easy to manage when needed. Once he gets to know you, he’s a wonderfully loving dog who simply wants to be by your side.

After everything Groot has been through, we’d love nothing more than to see him swap kennel life for a sofa, a routine, and a family to call his own.

“We’ve had the pleasure of looking after Groot for respite a few nights each week over the last couple of months, and he’s undoubtedly left a paw print on our hearts.

Groot is a friendly boy who enjoys meeting new people. Like many rescue dogs, he just needs a little time to build trust, but once he does, he becomes an incredibly affectionate companion who simply loves being by your side.

He absolutely adores his toys and is always keen to please. Groot is an obedient dog who responds well to commands, is crate trained, house trained, and is generally a very easy-going boy to have around the home. He’s happiest spending time with his people, whether that’s relaxing together or enjoying a walk.

On walks, Groot can sometimes need a little encouragement to get going, but with patience he settles into a lovely stride and walks beautifully on the lead, happily enjoying longer adventures.

Watching Groot settle, grow in confidence, and enjoy all the little comforts of home has been a privilege. We know he’ll make an incredibly rewarding companion for the lucky person or family who gives him the forever home he deserves.”
