💙 Meet Jack 💙

Jack came into our care after another dog from the same home was found wandering the streets. Once the owner was located, Jack was also surrendered. It’s a sad start to his journey, but we’re hoping it will lead him to the happy ending he truly deserves – a loving home of his own.

Jack is 5 years old and still very much finding his feet. From everything we’ve seen so far, he’s a lovely little dog – quiet, gentle and incredibly sweet natured. There’s something about him that makes him seem older than his years, like an old soul in a young body.

Jack is currently settling into a foster home, and his foster carers are helping us get to know him better. He’s understandably a little nervous with new people and needs a little time to build trust, but once he does, he really enjoys being close to you and absolutely loves a fuss.

He’s walking nicely on the lead and hasn’t shown much pulling. He has lived with other dogs previously and has also lived with cats before, but we’ve been told he’s not a big fan of cats.

At home, Jack is clean and toilet trained, although he did have one accident when he first arrived, which isn’t unusual when dogs are settling into a new environment. He’s been happy to be left alone for short periods and has chosen to relax in a crate with the door open, although he has scratched at the door when put into his room at bedtime, so he’ll benefit from a patient family who can continue helping him settle into a routine.

He doesn’t seem interested in toys just yet, but one of our favourite moments was watching him stretched out in the garden, soaking up the sunshine with the breeze ruffling his fur. It was such a simple moment, but it felt like the first glimpse of him beginning to relax and realise he’s finally safe.

What we’d really love is to find Jack an adoptive home; somewhere patient and kind, where he can continue to grow in confidence and become the dog he’s meant to be. With a little time, understanding and love, we’re sure this gentle little soul will make a wonderful companion.
