Personality

Reggie is on the lookout for his forever home – however he does need a very specific home so please only enquire if you match the requirements.

Reggie is a real cheeky boy who certainly keeps us on our toes – he makes us laugh every day and we’ve become very fond of him here!

Reggie is a joy to be around. He’s still a pup at heart and has bounds of energy! His favourite toy is a squeaky ball and could run around after it squeaking all day long! He really enjoys his walks and being outdoors, and even though he has little legs he can walk and walk. He has tonnes of personality and really brings joy to our days.

Health & Behaviour

He is a one year old miniature dachshund who has been neutered whilst with us. He is friendly with dogs but hasn’t been tested with cats.

Reggie came to us as he was taken for euthanasia after biting his owner on a few occasions. He has clearly never been shown any boundaries and has been allowed to rule the roost all of his life – this has resulted in him being a little bit of a spoilt brat!

He does have guarding issues – this may be with food, toys or if he finds something he’s decided he wants for himself. This can be very non specific, as most of the time when playing he will allow you to take things from him without any issues. He also doesn’t like being messed around with too much, although he loves a cuddle and adores a big cosy blanket on the sofa – he will let you know if he’s had enough strokes or fuss. Therefore his new owner must be able to read any signs and . Ongoing training for Reggie’s issues is a MUST and our team will be able to support going forward.

Reggie is crate trained and settles throughout the night – he may bark for a minute but then stops. His crate should be used going forward. He does have the odd accident in the house, usually mid play time when he seems to forget he needs to go, so frequent toilet breaks should be put in place whilst he settles in to his new home as a change in environment may lead to accidents too.

Perfect Match?

He will need an ADULT only home (18+) and he could live with friendly, playful dog.

Willing, but stern owners will be great for Reggie to continue setting boundaries and to show him he isn’t the boss!
